According to reports, Chelsea has said that they are willing to fulfill the €120 million (£103.3 million) release clause in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen’s contract this summer…
Following his impressive season as Napoli’s top scorer and winner of the Capocannoniere in 2022-23, the Super Eagles striker was constantly linked with a move away from the Partenopei.
Although clubs in Saudi Arabia, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and other teams were thought to be serious rivals for Osimhen’s signing, Aurelio de Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, was seeking a nine-figure deal for their star player.
Osimhen’s prospective suitors went on to other targets as a consequence, and the former Lille player subsequently inked a new deal with Naples that is valid through the end of the 2025–2026 season.
However, in order to provide Osimhen with an escape path while protecting his value, Napoli allegedly decided to include a release clause in his new contract, which is presently worth €120 million (£103.3 million).
Chelsea have not been deterred by Osimhen’s extension and significant release clause, according to Il Mattino – via Calcio Napoli 24 – and are planning to exercise that option during the summer transfer window.
