Chelsea wide player Mykhailo Mudryk has officially been charged with anti-doping rule violations by the Football Association (FA) and is allowed to get from 1 year up to 4 years ban.
The Ukrainian player has not been seen on the field since December 2024 after he tested positive for drugs, the last game for the Blues was in November. After that, he was provisionally suspended and was not allowed even to train with the team at Cobham.
The substance that was found was Meldonium which is on the list of banned substances of the World Anti-Doping Agency. The ‘B’ sample of the alleged test was analysed during a long process, but the FA declares they have enough proof to charge the 24-year-old with the offence.
“We are able to say that the case of Mykhailo Mudryk who is accused of the use of prohibited substances, has been forwarded to the court,” the FA said in a statement.
Mudryk alleges that it is a false accusation and if this is so then he is said to retain the same legal team that helped Paul Pogba whose four-year ban was changed to 18 months after an appeal.
In 2023 Mudryk was signed at the transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk worth £62 million, and his contract with Chelsea is valid until 2031, but a very long suspension period could lead to his uncertain position at the club.
