Justice Ekaette Obot, the Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, has just pardoned 45 inmates during her visit to the correctional centers across the state. The pardon had been announced while briefing newsmen in Uyo on Friday, March 24 after a three-day visit to correctional centers in the state.
According to Obot, she had urged for the relocation of Eket Correctional Centre to decongest the facility for good management of inmates.
Out of the inmates pardoned, three had been pardoned from Ikot Abasi, nine had been acquitted in Eket, 11 inmates had been from Ikot Ekpene and 2 inmates were released from Uyo correctional centers.
Obot had thereafter urged the freed inmates to engage themselves in useful ventures and to desist from crimes as they might not be privileged to be pardoned again.
