Migrants caught crossing anywhere along the 3,145-mile (5,060km) border will now be turned back according to news reports.
This announcement is coming after President Joe Biden visited Ottawa, Canada, to talk on economic, trade, and immigration issues with his Canadian counterpart, Justin Trudeau.
The accord is among a series of efforts targeted at limiting an influx of migrants at Roxham Road, the unofficial boundary between New York state and the province of Quebec.
Additionally, as part of the pact, Canada will be creating a new refugee program for at least, 15,000 migrants fleeing persecution and violence in South and Central America.
