The mortuaries and Hospitals in China have reportedly been filled with Covid-19 patients and dead bodies of people who died of the virus as the disease is fast spreading unchecked.
According to a report by Reuters on Wednesday, 28 December, hospitals and funeral homes are currently under extreme pressure as the virus surge drain resources. This new incident has prompted countries to begin considering new travel rules for chines visitors.
This is coming after the Chinese government in December had, in a complete turnover change of policy, begun dismantling the world’s strictest COVID-19 regime of lockdowns and extensive testing, in a bid to put its battered economy on course for a complete re-opening next year.
Meanwhile, several international health experts have remarked that the lifting of restrictions, which came after the widespread protests against them, means that the resurging COVID-19 is spreading largely unchecked and, most likely infecting millions of people a day.
Additionally, China reported three new COVID-19-related deaths on Tuesday, December 27 up from the one reported death on Monday, December 26, but the numbers are said to be inconsistent with what funeral homes are reporting.
