American rapper Chris Brown was arrested in the early hours of Thursday at a luxury hotel in Manchester, in connection with an alleged nightclub assault that took place in London last year.
According to reports, officers from the Metropolitan Police apprehended the 36-year-old musician shortly after 2 a.m. at The Lowry Hotel. The arrest is tied to an incident that occurred on February 19, 2023, at Tape nightclub, located in Hanover Square, Mayfair.
Brown is accused of launching an unprovoked attack on music producer Abe Diaw at around 3 a.m. during a night out at the upscale venue.
The artist reportedly flew into the UK on a private jet, touching down at Manchester Airport the previous day. Following investigations by The Sun which revealed his location, detectives from the Met Police traveled to Manchester to execute the arrest.
He was taken into custody and remains at a police station for further questioning.
Confirming the arrest, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023.”
As of now, no official statement has been released by Brown or his representatives.
