In an act that left many scratching their heads, gospel singer Samuel Oguche, aka Onoja, recently made quite the entrance at one of his performances – by emerging from a coffin. Yes, you read that correctly. Now, before you assume he’s taken a rather morbid turn in his musical career, let’s consider the possibility that he was using the coffin as a prop to drive home a point. Perhaps.
The event in question was ominously titled ‘Funeral Service – Death Of Self,’ which, well, doesn’t make things any less eyebrow-raising. Onoja took to Facebook to share photos from this unconventional gig, expressing his gratitude to Jalingo City for their overwhelming response to the experience.
He wrote, “Thank you Jalingo City !!! So much overwhelmed by the testimonies we received after this Experience. We return all glory to God for the impact, transformed lives, and many others. Welcome Once again to Funeral Service — Death of Self (Die Daily).”
Now, let’s not be too hasty in our judgment. While the concept of “death to self” isn’t entirely unusual in gospel circles, presenting it in a coffin might be pushing the envelope a tad. But then again, it does make one ponder – what’s your take on this, dear reader? Is it a brilliant metaphor or just a little too far-fetched for your taste?
