Nigerian comedian and skitmaker, popularly known as Sanku, has died in a fatal car accident along Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State. Actor Yemi Elesho confirmed the sad news on his social media accounts on Monday.
Just days before the tragedy, Sanku had released a skit on August 4 imagining himself in heaven after death. In the video, he joked about the unexpected absence of people he anticipated meeting and playfully told his partner to go to hell so they could enjoy life together.
Tributes have poured in from Nollywood stars and fans alike. Actress Funmi Awelewa expressed her sorrow, writing, “The pain, the effort, the strength, the struggle… walai nothing make sense. I’m heartbroken. Even film sef never come out! It does not make sense.”
Influencer Jidex shared a video of the badly damaged vehicle, revealing that multiple passengers were injured in the accident. While Sanku and another individual sustained critical injuries, the comedian later passed away.
“This is heartbreaking. Someone who left home in good health is suddenly gone. It is painful, especially coming just a day after the passing of Phyna’s sister, Ruth Otabor,” Jidex added.
The loss of Sanku has sent shockwaves through the entertainment community, leaving colleagues and fans mourning the untimely death of the popular comedian.
