Award-winning actress Toyin Alausa has highlighted that acting is more than just learning lines, stressing the depth and skill the profession requires.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Alausa explained that genuine acting requires fully embracing the moment and blending emotions with technical expertise to deliver authentic performances.

She pointed out that for actors to genuinely impact their audience, they must first immerse themselves in and experience profound emotions.

“Acting is not just about memorising lines; it’s about surrendering yourself to the moment, training both your emotions and your skills until they become one. To make an audience feel, you must first allow yourself to feel deeply,” she wrote.

Toyin Alausa underscored the dedication, emotional openness, and extensive practice involved in creating authentic performances, such as on-screen crying, insisting that acting is “lived, not faked.”

“Every crying scene you see on screen takes discipline, vulnerability and countless hours of perfecting the art. This is why we say acting is lived, not faked,” she added.
