The Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025 has come and gone after taking place from August 5-9, 2024. Just like the other fashion weeks we’ve seen this year, it was a splendid affair, featuring both established and emerging designers who showcased the latest trends and innovations in the fashion industry.
This year’s collection featured several trends that will most likely take over the fashion scene in Europe (and maybe beyond) in the coming months.
Below are some of the highlights and trends seen from the Copenhagen runway:
1. Sportswear:
Tennis-core may have serious competition in the upcoming months with the sporty and athleisure designs incorporated into some of the collections at the Copenhagen Fashion Week. A fun fact? They have already been spotted in the streets by young, savvy fashionistas trying their hands out with the trend. Marimekko, Stem, Baum und Pferdgarten, OpéraSPORT and Henrik Vibskov were some of the designers who flaunted tracksuits, rugby shirts, sporty jackets, and sleek, comfortable sneakers in their respective collections.
2. Sheer Designs:
OpéraSPORT, Forza Collective and Joao Maraschin are some of the designers whose collection featured transparent and sheer fabrics. The pieces gave off a delicate and ethereal vibe and when layered with other fabrics, created a sense of depth and movement. This fabric was paired with ballet flats, sandals, sneakers, and loafers.
Other accessories paired with this fabric included: a black leather belt and vest.
3. Pastel and Neutral Colors:
Soft pastel hues dominated the runway, bringing a fresh, crisp vibe to the collections. The colors ranged from shades of lavender, mint green, and baby blue.
Gray colors were also popular and they varied from light to dark hues, im fabrics ranging from tweed, silk and sheer.
4. Bubble Skirts:
Bubble skirts have been a prominent fashion piece for the Gen Zs of late and from the designs showcased at Copenhagen, the fad doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. This trend, characterized by its voluminous and playful silhouette, was embraced by many designers on the runway and were seen in various lengths (mini and maxis) and fabrics (cotton and more structured fabrics).
5. Asymmetrical Cuts:
Asymmetry was a repeated theme for 2025’s Spring/Summer collection. Some of the designers such as MLGA had experimented with uneven hems, off-center details, and unique silhouettes, adding a modern and edgy twist to traditional, albeit simple designs.
The MLGA’s collection had however, featured asymmetric cuts in both menswear and womenswear with designs such as textured shirts and sheer fabric being prominent in the tailoring.
