Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has shared how her Christian faith helped her confront a deep sense of emptiness that once lingered beneath her achievements.
In a video posted on Instagram, the media personality opened up about her spiritual transformation and the importance of self-awareness. She described the process of becoming a true Christian as one that demands the “death of self,” a journey that involves letting go of ego and worldly pursuits to fully embrace a life of faith.
“To be a follower of Christ means death of self,” she said. “So, if I think about the thing I’m most grateful for, it’s actually self-awareness.”
Cuppy confessed that despite reaching impressive milestones in her career, she still felt a void within. “I actually cannot believe how successful I was by worldly terms, but how empty I felt inside,” she admitted.
She went on to highlight the value of recognising one’s own struggles, saying, “The worst thing is not being in a situation, but the worst thing is not realising that you’re actually in one. Honestly, I’m so thankful that I realised not only that I was empty but also what I needed to fill those holes.”
Referencing key Bible passages that have guided her, Cuppy mentioned Proverbs 3:5, which reads, “Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding,” and Romans 12:2, which encourages believers to “not conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.”
She concluded that her renewed commitment to faith has brought her peace and helped her reevaluate what truly matters. According to her, fulfilment doesn’t come from accolades or validation, but from surrendering to a higher power and living in alignment with divine purpose.
