Veteran Nigerian singer, Daddy Showkey, has recounted how Fuji icon, Alabi Pasuma, stood by him during one of the toughest periods of his life.

The Galala pioneer revealed this emotional story during a recent live performance at a celebrity event, where Pasuma made a surprise appearance on stage. In a now-viral video circulating on social media, Daddy Showkey praised the Fuji star for his unwavering support following a fatal accident he suffered in 2007.

According to the singer, the accident kept him hospitalised for three years, during which Pasuma took full responsibility for his family’s welfare. He described the Fuji legend as his only true friend in the entertainment industry, lamenting how many others abandoned him in his time of need.

“You see this man? He stood by me through bad times and good times. I had an accident in 2007 and was in the hospital for three years. Pasuma was the one taking care of my family. I can never forget him in my life,” he said.

Daddy Showkey also expressed his disappointment in several of his industry colleagues, revealing that they avoided him even when he tried to visit after his recovery.

“When I got to their houses, they would say they weren’t around—even though they were inside. That’s how they turned their backs on me,” he added.
