Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has officially named the access road leading to his multibillion-dollar refinery in Lagos after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The announcement was made on Thursday during the commissioning of the Deep Sea Port Access Road, a key infrastructure project connecting the Dangote Fertiliser Plant to the Eleko Junction in Lagos State.
In his remarks, Dangote said, “The Dangote refinery complex is in many ways your brainchild,” addressing President Tinubu. “The main road going into our refinery is now going to be called Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road.”
Tinubu Gets Honour For Dangote Refinery Road
The decision to name the road after Tinubu was described by Dangote as a recognition of the president’s contributions to the private sector and the enabling environment his leadership has provided for such investments. According to Dangote, Tinubu’s administration has “inspired confidence” among investors and created opportunities for public-private collaboration.
“You are a very courageous leader,” Dangote said. “Please continue the great work you are doing. This has given us the confidence to do more in supporting your government.”
Following his remarks, President Tinubu stood and shook hands with the industrialist, drawing applause from government officials, business leaders and invited guests present at the event.
Refinery Road Renamed To Honour Tinubu’s Role
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road is part of a larger network of road projects funded and executed by the Dangote Group. Dangote revealed that the access road is one of eight major road projects under construction by his company, covering over 500 kilometres across Nigeria.
The refinery road connects the Lagos Free Zone to Eleko Junction, through the Epe–Ijebu-Ode stretch and extends to the Sagamu–Benin Expressway, serving as a vital logistics artery for the region. Two of the other road projects are located in Borno State and will link Nigeria to neighbouring countries Chad and Cameroon.
Dangote said the deep-sea port access road would ease movement of goods and services and enhance Nigeria’s regional trade competitiveness.
