Nigerian singer Darey Art Alade and his wife, Deola, shared a frightening experience after their car caught fire and was completely burnt on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
Fortunately, the driver escaped safely, and no lives were lost.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Deola recounted the incident, expressing gratitude for the protection they received amid what she described as a “shocking and painful experience.” The couple emphasized that their purpose in sharing the story was not to seek sympathy but to remind others about the value of life over material possessions.
“Yesterday, around 4pm, our car caught fire on the 3rd Mainland Bridge and burnt to the ground,” Deola wrote. “It was a shocking and painful experience but we’re incredibly grateful that the driver made it out safely. No lives were lost, and that’s what truly matters.”
She went on to highlight the lesson learned from the ordeal, saying, “Moments like this remind us how quickly things can change and how unimportant material things become in the face of life itself.”
The couple’s message was clear: material things can be replaced, but lives cannot. “We’re not sharing this for sympathy but to remind someone that things can be replaced. Lives cannot,” Deola stated.
She further reflected on the strength they found through their faith and perspective gained from the event. “We’re choosing to remain thankful to God for protection, for perspective, and for the quiet strength to keep going.”
Offering encouragement to those dealing with loss, Deola shared, “If you’re navigating a sudden loss of any kind, we hope this reminds you: we can rebuild. We can begin again and find the strength to keep going. One breath, one prayer, one step at a time.”
The couple concluded their message with gratitude, saying, “We give thanks in all things. THANK YOU JESUS!!! Thank you to everyone that stopped to help.”
