Nigerian music star Davido has spoken out in support of detained social media commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM), acknowledging the overwhelming public backing the activist has received since his arrest.
Reports suggest that VDM was picked up by law enforcement not long after visiting a commercial bank to report suspicious withdrawals from his mother’s account.
Sharing his thoughts online, Davido highlighted the positive impact VDM has had, noting that despite his often controversial approach, his work has resonated with many.
“Outside all the noise, it’s good to see that the good one does impact lives, and people appreciate it! The support I’m seeing for VDM everywhere is encouraging, making one want to do more for the masses,” Davido wrote.
He ended the post with a firm message calling for the activist’s release: “Free my guy.”
