World number one Novak Djokovic reassured fans of his well-being after a frightening incident at the Rome Open, where he was struck on the head by a water bottle while signing autographs following his second-round victory. The 36-year-old tennis star, left momentarily incapacitated by the impact, later took to social media to allay concerns.

“Thank you for the messages of concern,” Djokovic conveyed on his official platform, X. “This was an accident and I am fine resting at the hotel with an ice pack. See you all on Sunday.”

The Serbian maestro had commenced his campaign in the Italian capital on a winning note, dispatching France’s Corentin Moutet 6-3, 6-1 to progress to the third round. Despite the unsettling incident, Djokovic remains determined to continue his pursuit of glory, with his sights set on a successful run at the upcoming French Open.

Djokovic’s next challenge will come in the form of Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo, as he seeks to further fine-tune his game ahead of the prestigious Grand Slam tournament. With six titles already to his name in Rome, Djokovic enters the competition as one of the firm favorites, aiming to add another accolade to his illustrious career record. Only Rafael Nadal has enjoyed greater success in Rome, boasting an impressive tally of 10 titles at the prestigious event.
