The Super Eagles are soaring into the knockout stages of AFCON, but their wings are clipped by controversy. While former Anambra governor Peter Obi urges them to double their efforts against Cameroon, some fans are squawking for them to fly home.

Obi, like a proud papa, patted the Eagles on the back for reaching the round of 16. “Go out there and fight like lions!” he roared, calling them “ambassadors of our nation” carrying the hopes of a nation battered by challenges. He believes, deep down, that “we’re still champions, even in tough times.”

Double the Hustle, Eagles! Obi Urges Super Eagles to Soar Past Cameroon.

But not everyone’s flapping their wings in agreement. Some fans, eyes glued to the recent wobbly performance, cry, “What’s the point? They look like they’d rather be chilling at home!” They point to Cameroon, a five-time champ, as a mountain too high for these weary birds.

Remember that 1984 AFCON final, where Cameroon snatched the trophy right under Nigeria’s watch? Yeah, history stings. But hold on! The Eagles have soared past Cameroon twice in recent clashes, like a flock of hungry falcons. Remember 2004 and 2019? Those feathers still ruffle Cameroon’s feathers.

So, who’s right? Should the Eagles charge into battle, feathers puffed with Obi’s encouragement, or tuck their wings and head home? The answer, lies in today’s win. They’ve got the skills, the grit, and the history. Now, they just need to remember how to fly like champions.
