Former Big Brother Naija Season 7 housemate, Doyin David, has revealed she has no intention of participating in any Nigerian reality TV shows again, citing the emotional toll it took on her.
Speaking during an interview with Trendupp Africa, Doyin reflected on her experience in the reality TV space, saying it had a lasting impact on her mental well-being.
“When you go on a reality TV show, they portray you how they want to portray you. Not everything is how you really are, but they’ve given everybody an impression of you, and some of those impressions are not true,” she said.
She further explained that the media plays a significant role in shaping public perception of reality show participants, often leading to unwarranted criticism.
“There’s a lot that people think about me and think I am, in terms of my personality, that is really not who I am at all. Being on a reality TV show, my experience was very challenging mentally, very exposing. I wouldn’t do it again for any amount of money,” she added.
While Doyin made it clear she’s done with Nigerian reality shows, she left the door open to international opportunities, provided they come with a different environment.
“Except it’s a reality TV show outside the country, then I’ll probably take it. But Nigerians are too judgmental, so no, I’m not blessing them with my presence ever again,” she stated.
Doyin first gained public attention as a housemate during the seventh edition of Big Brother Naija.
