A portion of Ezza North Local government area headquarters in Ebonyi state was set on fire, on Monday morning, October 10, by alleged arsonists. The fire which was started by over 20 individuals had destroyed valuable items and documents worth millions.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the local government, Mr. Ogodo Ali Nomeh had told The Nation newspapers that the arsonists were resisted by the police and shot with bullet wounds afterward.
“The fire destroyed new air conditioners bought for the renovation of the council, some documents, and a generating set and some furniture.” Ogodo had said.
Nomeh added that the community’s vigilante apparatus and security agencies are on the trail of the wounded arsonists.
The Chairman then said that the security operatives were on the hunt for the supposed arsonists and that they will be unveiled when investigations were concluded. Security at the council has likewise been strengthened, to avoid a repeat of such incidents.
