Voters had trooped out en masse in Edo Central on Saturday to partake in the off-cycle governorship election in the state, even amidst heavy rain.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the voting exercise began at exactly 8:40 a.m. at the Eguare Primary School, in Ujiogba, Esan West Local Government Area (LGA) of the state. The LGA hosts three polling units.
Despite the bad weather, voters had lined up for accreditation and voting, which were both held simultaneously.
At polling unit II, ward 2, some of the voters had taken cover with their umbrellas, while others lined up in the rain.
At Igueben, Igueben LGA, canopies were installed in some of the polling units to protect voters from the torrential rain.
