On Friday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Enock Ifeoluw Ogungbamigbe, an alleged serial visa scammer who specializes in duping Nigerians desperate to move to Canada to work or further their studies through false visa and job offers.
The 32-year-old, who runs a Business in Mpape, an Abuja suburb, was taken up by Commission operatives at the Transcorp Hotel in Abuja when he responded to an arrangement to get a visa for an applicant wanting to relocate to Canada.
Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC spokesperson, revealed that the suspect had no idea it was a trap.
His arrest was the result of a petition filed by a victim who had lost N5 million to the culprit as processing costs for a Visa to Canada.
The suspect had also promised the victim a job upon arrival in Canada, however, he merely provided phony visas to the victims and all efforts to collect the money were unsuccessful.
As soon as the inquiry is completed, the suspect will be charged in court.
