A boat ferrying locals from Ibi local government council of Taraba State had capsized on Sunday, November 12.

The incident happened in Anyeshi village close to Benue State.

This unfortunate incident is coming barely two weeks after a similar incident happened in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of the state, where more than 50 passengers lost their lives.

According to the reports, the Karim-Lamido incident had traders from Mayoranewo, Ardo-Kola LGA going to Karim -Lamido council in a locally made boat. Unfortunately, tragedy had struck in Binneri village in the state.

The Head of Local Government Administration, HOLGA, in Ibi council, Isa Mohammed, has confirmed the accident, revealing that more than eight persons had lost their lives.

Isa, who argued that the accident had not taken place in Taraba but in neighbouring Benue, had acknowledged that all the passengers on board were from the Ibi council.

The HOLGA, who could not determine the number of passengers on board at the time of the accident, had cautioned the people of the council to avoid embarking on night voyages on waterways.

Note that Ibi residents who spoke to journalists had admitted that most of the victims were from the council.
