The Ekiti State Government has promised to rescue the abducted pupils and teachers and a driver after confirming that they had truly been kidnapped in the Emure-Ekiti area of the state.

This news is coming after gunmen, on Monday night, abducted six pupils and three teachers of a private school and their bus driver while they were returning from Eporo-Ekiti.

But hours after the incident,
The Ekiti State Government had further called on residents of the state to not despair as security officials have been deployed to rescue them.

Ekiti: State Government Vows to Rescue Kidnapped Pupils and Teachers

“The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has urged the citizens of the state not to despair over Monday’s kidnapping of some school pupils and their teachers in Emure- Ekiti, assuring that efforts are on to get the children and their teachers rescued,” the Tuesday statement from the Ekiti State Government read.

A statement was released by the state government whereby Governor Biodun Oyebanji described the kidnap as wicked, and unacceptable, saying nothing would be spared in the efforts to free them.

The statement read: “Security agencies in the state are already on the hunt for the kidnappers with the instruction to bring the pupils, teachers and driver back to safety. Governor Oyebanji had said security is being amped up across the state with a view to flush out criminal elements from their hideaways.” it added.

“While calling on the citizens to remain calm and watchful, he urged them to collaborate with security agencies, by making available, relevant information to the authorities.”
