Nasir El-Rufai, the Kaduna State Governor has condemned the death of two herdsmen who had been killed by an angry mob in the Birnin Gwari local government area of the state.
In a statement issued to the public on Sunday, October 2, by the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, the governor criticized the extrajudicial murder and voiced his concern over the mob’s violent behavior.
Additionally, the victims’ families had been urged by the governor to keep their calm, and security agencies had been ordered to fish out the perpetrators of the wicked act.
El-Rufai had also, ordered the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs to work together with the military, police, and DSS and to get in touch with the families of the deceased in an attempt to prevent a possible reprisal attack.
A part of the statement had read:
“The crowd (mob) took the two herders away from security guards by force after hearing unfounded rumors that they were involved in banditry. The herders were not found guilty of the accusations when the crowd lynched and set them on fire.”
