Billionaire businessman Elon Musk may step down from his role as Twitter’s Chief Executive Officer, CEO after asking the app users to vote in a poll.
“Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll,” Musk tweeted earlier on Monday.
Over 14.5 million votes had been cast with around four hours remaining, and 57.3 percent of the participants had chosen yes while 42.7 percent said no. The billionaire owner of Twitter and chief executive officer of Tesla Inc. will abide by the results of the poll, as he revealed in his tweet.
This decision to vote on his stepping down from his CEO position may be because of the series of controversies that have followed Musk ever since he took over the social media platform.
Recall that this past Thursday, Musk suspended the accounts of prominent journalists from top media organizations in the implementation of his earlier announced rules on “doxxing”.
The account of a social media company called Mastodon, a well-known alternative app to Twitter, was also suspended.
