The transgender daughter of Elon Musk has requested a name change in court because she no longer wishes to “live with or be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”
She filed a petition with the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica asking for both a name change and a new birth certificate that reflects her new gender identification.
According to court documents made accessible online through PlainSite.org, the former Xavier Alexander Musk, who just turned 18—the Californian age of consent—has sought the court to modify her gender recognition from male to female and to register her new name.
The internet paperwork has her new name obscured. Justine Wilson, Musk’s ex-wife who gave birth to her, is her mother.
The disagreement between Elon Musk’s daughter and her father, the head of Tesla and SpaceX who is aiming to buy Twitter for $44 billion (£35.8 billion), was not further explained.
The report has not received a response from either the Tesla media office or Musk’s attorney.
Earlier this year, Musk made clear that he was a supporter of the US Republican Party, whose elected officials are in favor of a slew of bills that would restrict transgender rights nationwide.
