A substantial number of Enugu State residents had taken to the streets on Monday, July 24, to protest against the sustained enforcement of an unlawful sit-at-home order by a faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB in the South-East region of Nigeria.
A live recorded video shared on Facebook on Monday, by one Ebubechukwu Uzo, on his personal account, had seen many residents of the state taking to the streets to air their disapproval of the sit-at-home order.
The residents were seen in the video holding placards with various messages while demonstrating.
One such inscriptions read:
“We are no longer able to meet up with our hire purchase because of sit-at-home orders.”
From the video, the residents were very much aggrieved and had finally had enough of Simon Ekpa and his followers.
Several comments under the shared post had commended the ‘Igbos’ for finally standing up to IPOB, with some stating that it had never made sense for a prisoner (referring to Nnamdi Kalu) to issue commands whilst still in prison, even as Kalu’s spokesperson had vehemently denied Kalu being the master mind of the sit-at-home order.
