Facebook has tagged Nigeria as one of the eight phenomenal creatives and small business owners from Africa.
The recognition was done by Facebook in order to acknowledge African countries who are breaking grounds across the world in various areas of life.
However, in regards to the Africa Day celebration on May 25, Facebook has announced that it would be starting a series of short films Made by Africa, Loved by the World which is a global campaign to tell stories of eight phenomenal creatives and small business owners who are changing the status quo across the world.
Those shortlisted for these recognition are two Kenyans, three Nigerians, one from Gabon, and one from Cote d’Ivoire.
Facebook Africa Regional Director, Nunu Ntshingila stated that this is done in order to recognise some of the notable individuals who inspire the world and change the way African is viewed in the world in general.
The series is geared at exhibiting, and honouring Africans who are changing and positively influencing Africa through music, arts and crafts.
Names of Africans recognised by Facebook includes Mark Angel, a digital comedian, script writer and video producer; Lola Pedro– Founder, Pedro’s Premium Ogogoro drinks brand; Blinky Bill, a musician, DJ, rapper/producer and Sauti Sol of international award-winning Afro-pop group from Kenyans, and Mai Atafo- fashion designer and bespoke tailor all form Nigeria, Lafalaise Dion, fashion designer and visual artist; Laduma Ngxokolo – founder of fashion brand Maxhosa, Jessica Allogo – founder of Les Petits Pots de l’Ogooué Garmout Food brand; and creative artist from Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon and South Africa respectively.
