Afrobeats sensation, Wizkid, has become the center of controversy since releasing a teaser of his “Bend” single off his forthcoming Morayo album. The “Made in Lagos” star has indeed been a king of dropping hit single after another, but the latest teaser just got fans unsure.

The women-only night party, which was supposed to generate hype for the album, perhaps didn’t quite land as intended. In the now-viral clip, Wizkid is surrounded by adoring fans grooving to “Bend”, but not everyone was vibing along.

One fan dryly noted, “He’s been repeating the same line since last Ramadan.” Another commented, saying, “Low-key, FC is disappointed, but them no wan talk am”. Some weren’t so reserved, even going so far as to question the artistic merit of the music. Comments ran from bewilderment to outright condemnation. One user opined, “Make this guy just stop music, go into real estate or something.”

Not all feedback was bad, as fans of Wizkid hoped that this track might still pull a fast one and the full album would deliver the magic they had come to expect from the star.

But one thing is crystal clear as the buzz grows in circles around Morayo: whether loving it or hating it, everybody’s talking about Wizkid. And though we are not on any side, we’re keeping our ears glued to the next big album drop – Davido.
