The Super Eagles beat Algeria in an overwhelming manner, as they secured a place in the AFCON semi-finals. It was an all-round performance and a deserving win from Nigeria, as Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams scored the goals.

Éric Chelle’s team took control and dominated the whole game by controlling possession and tempo right from the start. Lookman was constantly causing problems for the opposition, and his fierce shot was well saved by Zidane. However, shortly after that, Lookman almost made a perfect pass to Osimhen, putting him through on goal. Just before the end of the first half, Nigeria was almost in front when the clever finish of Bassey from a set piece was cleared heroically off the line, thus indicating an end to a first half in which Algeria had no shots on target.

The first goal was scored less than a minute into the second half. A cross from Bruno Onyemaechi was perfectly placed for Osimhen, who was the tallest and thus scored his 35th international goal by head and made it 1-0 in favor of Nigeria. The Super Eagles quickly increased their lead, with Osimhen turning provider this time, finding Akor Adams, who finds himself 1-on-1 with the keeper before going round him and putting the ball into an empty net.

The Algerians found it difficult to attack and were quickly smothered by the Nigerian defense, which allowed the latter to finish the match in a relaxed manner. Winning maintains the Super Eagles as title contenders with a semi-final match against Morocco next.
