A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State had on Wednesday, February 22, directed the forfeiture of 14 properties in Lagos, Abuja, and the United Arab Emirates that had been linked to the Kogi State government.

The judge, Justice Nicholas Oweibo had granted the interim order after an ex-parte motion filed by the EFCC. Justice Oweibo had additionally authorized the EFCC to seize the sum of N400m recovered from Aminu Falal and linked to Kogi State.

Meanwhile, the EFCC counsel, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, who argued the ex-parte motion, had informed the court that the properties were suspected to have been derived from illegal activity.

Oweibo had also directed the crimes commission to publish the order within 14 days (2 weeks) for any interested party to show cause on why the forfeiture order should not be made permanent.
