The National female Basketball team also known as D’tigress has released a press statement rejecting the two-year ban imposed on them by the federal government.
The federal government had placed a ban on all Basketball teams both male and female, preventing them from participating in any international games.
D’tigress have come out to state that they do not accept this ban that is ruining their future. They appeal to the government to give them a chance to represent the country in international games as they have worked hard to place Nigeria on the map in every international game they have participated in. They highlighted their wins in the afro basket competition and Olympics and stated that they want Nigerian Basketball to grow from the grass-root to the international level.
“Our goal is to play and represent Nigeria proudly! We, as the Nigerian Women’s National Team plea for the reversal of the International Basketball ban for Nigeria. We hope to be heard! Thank you.”
