The Nigerian Federal Government has declared Wednesday, June 28 and Thursday, June 29 as Eid-el-Kabir holidays.
Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior had announced this via a press statement that was released on Monday, June 26.
According to Akinlade, the holidays was to commemorate the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Akinlade had meanwhile, enjoined Muslims and Nigerians alike to make sacrifices for the growth and development of the country.
The permanent secretary had then revealed hope that the prayers and sacrifices of the season will restore the much-desired peace and unity the country needed since the 2023 elections happened.
It might be too much to hope that the Eid-el-Kabir celebration would bridge the division in country that had been occasioned by the just concluded presidential and governorship election but it would not hurt to hold out a bit of hope for Nigeria and its citizens.
