The Federal Government of Nigeria had on Monday, May 15, described a bill presently being considered by the National Assembly seeking to stop the migration of Nigerian doctors to climes perceived to be greener pastures as ‘un-workable’.
Senator Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, made this revelation while taking questions from journalists after the Federal Executive Council meeting was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the State House in Abuja.
While responding to a threat by resident doctors to begin a five-day warning strike over perceived attempts to ground medical and dental graduates nationwide for five years before being granted a practicing license, Ngige had stated that the bill is negating extant Labour laws.
