FG to end public defacation in Abuja by building 10,000 public toilets.

The acting Director of FCT Rural Water Supply and Sanitation, Dr Mohammed Dan-Hassan released a report on Monday, May 9th, 2022, addressing the increase in open defecation in Abuja.

He said that FG had in 2018 launched an emergency on water sanitation and hygiene in the country, He also said the construction of the public toilets was one of the ground plans to end open defecation in the territory and not only in FCT but nationwide by 2025.

The FG intends to end public defecation in Abuja by building 10,000 public toilets for the residents of Abuja.

There would be a sensitization program for all residents on open defecation, and the effects, risks, and danger that it imposes on their health and livelihood. The director said that the toilets would bring about improvement in safe water and sanitation in every locality in the city.
