The world football governing body, FIFA, has announced the full list of nominees for the prestigious 2024 The Best FIFA Football Awards. This annual recognition honors the top performers in men’s and women’s football at both the club and international levels. In one of the biggest updates to the voting process, fans will join for the first time in deciding several key categories, including Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, and the coveted Team of the Year awards. Public voting is now live at FIFA.com until 23:59 CET on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
New for this year is the fact that fans have an exclusive right to decide the winner of the FIFA Fan Award, an equal weighting to a panel of experts in voting for the FIFA Puskás Award and the new FIFA Marta Award, and supporters will also play a role in deciding The Best FIFA Men’s XI and The Best FIFA Women’s XI by selecting players from a shortlist across key positions.
Voting, on the other hand, will result from a combination of all fan votes, votes of national team coaches and their captains, and media representatives. With categories ranging from individual player honors to accolades for coaching, this year’s nominations reflect a breathtaking year of football action in both domestic and international matches.
