A fire outbreak has hit Fresh FM, the popular Ibadan-based radio station owned by veteran singer and broadcaster Yinka Ayefele.
The incident happened on Friday evening and was first made public by a staff member of the station, who raised an alarm on his X (formerly Twitter) account, @Arugboboisi. In his post, he pleaded for urgent intervention from the Fire Service and urged the public to help alert the nearest fire station.
As of the time of reporting, the exact cause of the fire had not yet been determined.
Ayefele himself confirmed the incident by sharing a video on social media. The footage captured flames blazing from the rear of the building, while fire service officials and rescue teams worked with ladders to bring the situation under control.
The broadcaster’s caption, which included a crying emoji, reflected the emotional impact of the fire on him.
