A fire outbreak occurred at a law firm in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Wednesday, reportedly caused by a power surge.
According to reports, the fire started around 9:22 a.m., but the swift response of the Kwara State Fire Service prevented significant damage.
In a statement, the fire service’s spokesman, Hassan Adekunle, confirmed the incident and praised the firefighters for containing the blaze.
He explained that despite the firm housing about 80 offices, only one room on the second floor was affected.
“On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at approximately 09:22 hours, the Kwara State Fire Service responded to a fire outbreak at Unity Road, Ilorin.
“Upon receiving the distress call, firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene. Their swift intervention prevented further destruction, containing the fire to a single office on the second floor of the two-storey building, which houses about 80 offices,” Hassan stated.
He added that preliminary findings showed the fire was triggered by a power surge, which affected an air conditioner and some books.
