The Senate of the Lagos State University (LASU), in Nigeria, is currently investigating
the source and causes of a recent fire incident at the university’s Accounts, Audit, and Bursary departments.
Sources familiar with the incident told our correspondent exclusively that the dawn fire occurred at the three departments in the Senate just before the Christmas holiday.
“The incident occurred due to an electrical surge and destroyed undisclosed vital
documents associated with the university’s financial records. The fire was, however, put out by a combined team of the school’s security and safety officers,” the source said.
When our Correspondent visited the university, the school’s Public Relations Officer,
Mr. Jerrysam Olaniyi was not available for comments.
A top member of the Senate who pleaded anonymity confirmed the report stating that the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has ordered a thorough investigation into the issue, stating the report would soon be ready.
