In what his doctor has referred to as a “rebound” illness, US Vice President Joe Biden has tested positive for Covid-19 once more. The 79-year-old first became ill with the virus on July 21 when it was discovered that he was showing very mild symptoms. Despite not having any symptoms, Mr. Biden said on Saturday that he would separate himself “for the safety of everyone around me. “Between Tuesday and Friday of last week, the president had undergone four negative viral testings.
President Biden will continue to be under “close monitoring” but there is no need to restart therapy, according to a letter from Mr. Biden’s doctor, Dr. Kevin O’Connor. Mr. Biden has been using Paxlovid, an antiviral medication that according to Dr. O’Connor caused a “rebound” test in a “small number” of Covid patients.
