Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has caused a stir online following his bold take on food and nutrition, claiming that eating once a day is all the human body truly needs.

Speaking in an interview with Ghana’s 3FM 102.7, the actor argued that food is overrated and often hinders his productivity. He described eating as a “disruptive” activity that slows him down.

“I eat once a day. Food sounds like a disruptor for me. Once I eat, it’s downhill. I think my energy is pure and unbridled when I don’t eat,” he said during the conversation.

Iyke explained that hunger sharpens his focus and keeps him energized, while eating signals his body to slow down.

“So, sometimes, I don’t want to share that space with food. Because food would begin to weigh me down, I would begin to enjoy it and send signals to my head that the day is ending, I need to sleep,” he added.

Doubling down on his stance, the actor suggested that food alters a person’s mindset and contributes to complacency.

“Then your subconsciousness takes over with the manipulation and begins to tell you, you’ve tried today, you’ve eaten, take some time off. Food is a scam. The human body is designed to eat just once a day,” he claimed.

He also cautioned against poor eating choices, warning that the effects of an unhealthy diet eventually catch up with people.

“And of course, what you eat defines everything. The law of commutative effect will catch up with you every time you eat something wrong,” Iyke said.

While his views have gained attention, they’ve also drawn criticism, especially from health professionals who argue that eating just once daily may not support optimal health for most people.

Most medical guidelines recommend at least three balanced meals a day to ensure proper nutrition, energy levels, and metabolic function.
