A former Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 4th Republic, Ghali Umar Na’abba has been confirmed dead.
According to reports, he passed on in the early hours of Wednesday at the age of 65 after fighting an undisclosed illness.
Na’abba, who hails from Kano State, was appointed member of the House of Representatives in 1999.
He thereafter became the Speaker a few months after the inauguration of the House after the resignation of the then Speaker, Salisu Buhari, who hails from the same Kano State, over certificate forgery scandal.
Prior to his death, Na’abba dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and joined the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party PDP.
