The police force had arrested four suspects who have been linked to the attack at Igama village, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.
It had been reported that herders had attacked the village on Sunday and killed about fifteen people. They had also burned down all the houses in the community.
Catherine Anene, the state command spokesperson had said that the attackers had been traced to the bush where they had a gun fight with the police which later led to the arrest of the four suspects, Umar Nuhu, Dauda Alhaji, Musa Dako, and Umaru Alhaji Sale. One of the suspects with the name, Musa Dako, had sustained injuries that led to his death. The other three suspects are currently undergoing interrogations in police custody
“Police teams deployed to the area in collaboration with other security agents have been on cordon and search operations within the forest.”
The spokesperson had also admonished residents of the village to stay calm and report suspicious activities to the police.
