It’ll shock you to know that child trafficking still operates locally in Nigeria, through the initiative of the Anambra state Commissioner of Women and Social welfare, Ify Obinabo, four teenage girls were rescued from child traffickers.

According to Chidimma Ikeanyionwu, the Commissioner’s spokesperson, when the Commissioner got wind of such activity, she informed the Anambra state Police Command who immediately carried out a rescue operation to rescue the girls who were taken to a motor park in Anambra, to be trafficked to another destination.

According to Ify Obinabo, the administration will ensure that the traffickers feel the full wrath of the law, to serve as a warning to others.

Obinabo said, “The Prof. Chukwuma Soludo-led administration will not leave any stone unturned in making sure that traffickers are dealt with according to the stipulations of the law urging members of the state to always report any suspicious activity within their area

The leader of this syndicate, whose name is Success has been arraigned before the children, sexual and Gender-based Magistrate court in Awka, she is currently in police custody.

According to the teenage girls, Mrs. Success received them with the prospect of working in a bar, which was a lie as they were brought from Akwa Ibom to do Prostitution, and they are to sleep with five men every night, they are only given 400 naria for their feeding.

It’s a pity to see that such an act still operates in Nigeria, parents should beware of who they give their children to.
