Most fuelling stations in Warri and its environs in Delta State have been halted their operations following the hike in fuel price in the country.
According to reports, some of the filling stations were selling a liter of fuel for between N960 to N1000 respectively, while some had no products to sell at all, two factors which are contributing to the long queues prominent at stations dispensing product.
This development has compelled commercial tricycle operators to increase the cost of transportation.
Several residents in reaction to the situation had appealed to the federal government to intervene in the matter and save the citizens from the economic hardship,
A commercial tricycle operator, Oghenechovwe who was quizzed by news reporters, had revealed how he bought fuel worth 8000 Naira earlier in morning but as at the end of the day, he hadn’t worked up four thousand Naira nor gained his profit at the end of the day.
Another commercial tricycle operator, Ogaga also remarked that in addition to the issue of fuel, tricycle had to worry about the issue of government tout. According to him, the amount he spends a day buying tickets was also on the high side.
