The G7 leaders condemned Iran’s attack on Israel over the weekend. The attack took place from Saturday night to Sunday morning, with Iran launching a series of drone and missile attacks against Israel.
Tehran claimed the attacks were in response to an Israeli airstrike on its consulate in Damascus earlier this month, which allegedly killed seven officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, including two high-ranking generals. Israel did not respond to the accusation but is widely believed to be behind the attack.
After a meeting on Sunday, the Group of Seven reaffirmed their commitment to Israel’s security in a statement published on the White House website.

The statement read, “We, the Leaders of the G7, unequivocally condemn in the strongest terms Iran’s direct and unprecedented attack against Israel. Iran fired hundreds of drones and missiles towards Israel. Israel, with the help of its partners, defeated the attack.
“We express our full solidarity and support to Israel and its people and reaffirm our commitment to its security.”
The G7 leaders accused Iran of provoking regional escalation with the attack, urging Iran and its proxies to cease their aggression. They also expressed their readiness to take further measures against Iran and its proxies and to continue working toward an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages held by Hamas. The statement also highlighted the need to provide humanitarian aid to Palestinians in need.
