A yet-to-be identified gunman has reportedly killed four people and injured one other on Friday, February 9 after opening fire at a market in the Georgian city of Rustavi, 20 kilometres (12 miles) from the capital city of Tbilisi, according to the interior ministry said.
The ministry had in a statement said that the gunman had been apprehended.
It also said that one of those killed had been the gunman’s uncle and that the injured person had been his cousin.
Mass shootings are a relatively rare occurrence in Georgia, but in January 2023, an ex-soldier had killed six people, himself included, and injured five more after opening fire from his balcony in an apartment.
