After Mohamed Salah launched a scathing attack on the club, accusing them of “throwing him under the bus,” Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard urged people not to lose their heads. The Egyptian attacker was not in the matchday squad for the 1-0 Champions League win at Inter Milan on Tuesday after he criticised manager Arne Slot and club officials for being benched in the 3-3 draw at Leeds.
“I think he should have a look back at what he said, ’cause Salah’s really upset but made those comments in the heat of the moment,’ he said and also added calling on the player to sort out the issue off-camera it was his opinion that the player should leave his controversial comments behind and figure out things in private,” Gerrard told TNT Sports.

Gerrard cited player-coach conflicts in the past as examples of Suárez and even his own incident against Manchester United. He thinks Salah acted on his feelings and will pretend that he didn’t later.
Amid this dispute, there have been rumors of an exit in January, with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia said to be interested in Liverpool’s number three top scorer. Salah, who shared a photo of himself training alone on Tuesday, will fly to Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations after the match against Brighton.
Gerrard, however, reiterated that Liverpool cannot afford to be without a firing Salah and described him as “the best player and best scorer” who can take the team out of the crisis which has seen them down the table in 10th position in the Premier League.
