Global Unrest: US Sends Emergency Alert To Citizens In Nigeria

The United States government has released a fresh security advisory to its citizens residing in Nigeria following rising hostilities between Washington and Tehran.

In a statement issued on Monday, US authorities cautioned Americans abroad to remain alert, citing ongoing military operations involving Iran.

“Following the launch of US combat operations in Iran, Americans worldwide and especially in the Middle East should follow the guidance in the latest security alerts issued by the nearest US embassy or consulate,” the advisory said.

The notice warned that the unfolding crisis could lead to flight disruptions, as some countries may temporarily shut their airspace due to security concerns.

The US Department of State also urged citizens globally to exercise heightened vigilance and take precautionary measures. It encouraged Americans to register with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive real-time security updates, as well as to follow the “U.S. Department of State Security Updates for US Citizens” WhatsApp channel for timely information.

The alert comes amid reports from Iranian state and local media confirming the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in airstrikes allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel. Several senior Iranian government officials were also reported to have been killed in the attacks.

In response, Iran is said to have launched multiple missile strikes targeting US military bases across Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, vowing to retaliate over the killing of its Supreme Leader and other top officials.

Speaking during a live broadcast on Saturday while the attacks were ongoing, US President Donald Trump declared his resolve to dismantle the Iranian regime. He also urged Iranian citizens to take control of their government after military operations end.
