Abuja residents were shocked when gospel singer Oluwatimileyin Ajayi was arrested for allegedly carrying the severed head of his girlfriend in a black nylon bag. The horrifying discovery was made on Sunday, January 12, near a church in Orozo, after concerned bystanders noticed flies swarming around his bag and alerted authorities.
Ajayi, a motivational speaker and fitness enthusiast, confessed to the crime during police interrogation. He said the tragic incident occurred during a heated argument when his girlfriend allegedly tried to stab him with a knife. In what he described as self-defense, the altercation escalated, leading to her brutal death and eventual beheading.
The abomination has strongly conflicted with Ajayi’s online reputation as a gospel artist who dropped the album God of the Earth in 2020. Social media followers, who were accustomed to his motivational posts and words of spiritual motivation, protested against the atrocity.
Investigations are still under way and justice is being demanded by Nigerians for the victim. The incident has again brought to light that there could be some serious hidden dangers behind every inspiring public profile.
